So you’ve decided to turn your kids book into an audiobook.  That’s super smart!  Not only does that open up many new opportunities to reach new audiences, it also makes new sources of revenue possible.

You may be asking yourself, how do you make an audiobook?  We discussed this in a previous blog post – check up on that discussion of the different options.  But let’s say you’ve read that and are trying to decide if you should go ahead and produce and narrate your book yourself.

There’s a definite upside to this!  To hear a book in the author’s own voice can be a magical thing.  It can help you connect to your listeners in a way other options simply can’t offer.  It can also be fun.  Seeing your book, with your name as the author and narrator in Audible.com can be trilling.  Trust me, I’ve done it!

Over the next few blog posts, we’re going to be discussing this option in depth. Should you narrate it yourself, or leave it to a professional narrator? We’ll be answering the questions, What does it take to narrate my own audiobook, and, What equipment will I need? By the time we’re done, you’re going to have a pretty darned good idea of if, how and why you might want to narrate. your book yourself.

So, stay tuned over the next three weeks as we dig in to help you decide if you should take the plunge, and narrate your own audiobook!
